Met Plex Media Server kun je media streamen naar al je favoriete apparaten. De serversoftware is beschikbaar voor erg veel platformen, waaronder Windows, macOS en Linux, maar ook voor verschillende nas-platformen en zelfs voor Docker. De client-software is eveneens voor veel platformen beschikbaar, waaronder iPhone, Android, Apple TV, Google TV en vele smart-tv’s. Plex zoekt veel extra informatie bij je media, zoals posters, beschrijvingen, de cast en ook ondertiteling. De serversoftware is gratis te gebruiken. Er is wel een betaalde versie, genaamd Plex Pass, waarin ondersteuning zit voor meerdere gebruikers, je media offline kunt opslaan en ondersteuning voor hardware transcoding aanwezig is.

Wat is er nieuw

Sinds de laatste publieke update van Plex is alleen de Web-versie bijgewerkt naar versie 4.54.5.
