Mozilla Firefox 123

Firefox is de browser van Mozilla. De browser is open-source en richt zich vooral op privacyfuncties. Zo blokkeert Firefox standaard trackingcookies en sociale trackers. Ook heeft Firefox via een officiële add-on de functie Containers, waarmee je websites in een afgezonderde sessie kunt bezoeken, zodat je moeilijker op het web gevolgd kan worden. Verder kun je je browser-instellingen en -gegevens synchroniseren met je andere computers, heeft Firefox een ingebouwde passwordmanager en een speciale leesmodus.

Firefox heeft een vast release-schema waarop nieuwe versies verschijnen. Elke vier weken verschijnt een nieuwe versie van de browser. Tussendoor kunnen nog wel kleine updates met bugfixes of securityfixes uitgebracht worden.

Wat is er nieuw

Mozilla heeft versie 123 van zijn Firefox-webbrowser uitgebracht. Nieuw in deze versie is dat je kunt zoeken in Firefox View. Op Firefox View zie je al je open tabbladen, evenals net gesloten websites, tabbladen en je geschiedenis. Je kunt naar View gaan door op het meest linkse icoon in de tabbladbalk te klikken. Ook nieuw in deze versie is dat tooltips nu ook door Firefox’ vertaalfunctie worden vertaald.

Helaas bevat deze versie nog altijd niet de Cookie Banner Blocker-functie en ook geen Quick Actions. Daar zullen we dus nog even op moeten wachten. Je vindt de volledige changelog van deze nieuwe Firefox-versie hieronder.

Instructies

Om Mozilla Firefox te updaten, klik je in Windows op de drie strepen rechts naast de adresbalk en ga je naar Help en dan Over Firefox. Op Mac klik je in de menubalk op Firefox en dan Over Firefox. Wacht even totdat de update is binnengehaald en klik dan op Herstarten om Firefox bij te werken. Je kunt de update ook handmatig downloaden en installeren via de downloadlinks hieronder.

  • The Network Monitor now supports saving a response body to disk through the Save Response As context menu item. This replaces the Save Image context menu item, which only supported saving images.

Web Platform

  • We now implement linearRGB interpolation for SVG gradients, as well as the existing sRGB interpolation. You can choose which to use via the color-interpolation property.

  • Previously, SVG feImage elements that pointed to SVG content required the SVG document to have a root element that had non-percentage width and height values. Such content will now fall back to use the default replaced element values of 300px width and 150px height and the feImage will no longer fail to render.

  • By enabling Preload and Modulepreload support, Early Hints are now fully supported.

  • Audio echo cancellation can now be applied to microphone inputs when the audio output is redirected to another device with setSinkId().

  • Firefox now supports declarative ShadowDOM, providing developers greater flexibility and improved ergonomics when working with ShadowDOMs directly within HTML.

Unresolved

  • Some machines with older AMD CPUs may see image thumbnails incorrectly render as all black in file dialogs. If this is the case, updating the graphics driver should address this issue.
