Mozilla heeft versie 88 van zijn Firefox-webbrowser uitgebracht. In deze versie is de ingebouwde pdf-lezer van Firefox verbeterd. Deze kan nu overweg met ingebakken JavaScript, dat in een pdf gebruikt kan worden voor validatie en andere interactieve functies. Ook kan nu window.name alleen nog worden uitgelezen door de website die deze property heeft gezet, om privacylekken van een website te voorkomen.
Verder verwijdert deze release de mogelijkheid om nog gebruik te maken van FTP, bevat deze versie oplossingen voor meerdere beveiligingsproblemen en kun je nu in de developer tools de response ook als JSON weergeven. Downloaden
Om te updaten naar Mozilla Firefox 88, klik je in Windows op de drie strepen rechts naast de adresbalk en ga je naar Help en dan Over Firefox. Op Mac klik je in de menubalk op Firefox en dan Over Firefox. Wacht even totdat de update is binnengehaald en klik dan op Herstarten om Firefox bij te werken. Je kunt de update ook handmatig downloaden en installeren.

Changed
- Firefox will not prompt for access to your microphone or camera if you’ve already granted access to the same device on the same site in the same tab within the past 50 seconds. This new grace period reduces the number of times you’re prompted to grant device access.
- The ‘Take a Screenshot’ feature was removed from the Page Actions menu in the url bar. To take a screenshot, right-click to open the context menu. You can also add a screenshots shortcut directly to your toolbar via the Customize menu. Open the Firefox menu and select Customize…
- FTP support has been disabled, and its full removal is planned for an upcoming release. Addressing this security risk reduces the likelihood of an attack while also removing support for a non-encrypted protocol.
