iOS en iPadOS 14.5 met ontgrendelen via Apple Watch

Apple heeft nieuwe versies uitgebracht van zijn besturingssysteem voor iPhones en iPads. Het gaat om versie 14.5. Belangrijkste nieuwe functie in deze update is de mogelijkheid om je iPhone te ontgrendelen met je Apple Watch als je een mondmasker draagt. Op die manier hoef je niet steeds je toegangscode in te typen als je even iets op je telefoon wilt doen.

Om deze functie aan te zetten, update je ook je Apple Watch naar watchOS 7.4. Na het updaten ga je op je iPhone naar Instellingen en dan Face ID en toegangscode. Voer de toegangscode van je iPhone in en ga naar onderen naar de optie Ontgrendel met Apple Watch en zet de schakelaar om bij je Apple Watch. Voor Apple Pay en App Store-aankopen is overigens altijd je toegangscode vereist. Als je je iPhone op deze manier ontgrendelt, krijg je een melding op je Apple Watch. Je kunt op je Watch dan op Vergrendel tikken om je iPhone weer te vergrendelen, voor als iemand anders je iPhone ontgrendelt.

Andere wijzigingen in iOS en iPadOS 14.5 zijn ondersteuning voor 5g in combinatie met een dualsim, nieuwe emoji’s, de mogelijkheid om in Siri een standaard-streamingdienst te kiezen en ondersteuning voor controllers van de Xbox Series X/S en PlayStation 5. Versie 14.5 verbetert ook je privacy: apps moeten nu specifiek om toestemming vragen om je activiteiten in apps te kunnen volgen. Op iPad is er nog een noemenswaardige functie: het scherm bij het opstarten werkt nu zowel in portrait- als in landscape-modus. Het volledige changelog van iOS 14.5 vind je hieronder.

Downloaden

Je kunt je iPhone of iPad updaten door naar de app Instellingen te gaan, op Algemeen te tikken en dan naar Software-update te gaan. Je Apple-apparaat gaat dan automatisch op zoek naar updates. Tik op Download en installeer zodra de update is gevonden om deze te downloaden en te installeren.
